Tuesday, April 4, 2006 Route 90 - Winn Dixie

Route 90 is the major thorofare through Waveland and Bay St. Louis. It is a divided road, with strip malls, restaurants, and other businesses on both sides.

The Lutheran Church of The Pines is on the Eastbound side of Route 90, near the intersection with Route 603. The entire area was under 5 to 6 feet of water at the peak of the storm-induced flooding. ( this is about 2 miles north of the beach ). We had an opportunity to see videos filmed from the second flor of the Holiday Inn across the street. The parking lots of the K-Mart and other strip-malls along the road were flooded above the roofs of cars and trucks parked there.

Today, most of the malls and markets have not re-opened.
