Wednesday April 5, 2006 Comment on the Damage in Waveland

A mile and a half from the coast, on Nicholson Avenue, this house was flooded and crushed when trees fell on it.
The damage to Waveland extended north from the coast through the whole community. The coastal houses were demolished by the storm surge of about 30 feet of water and the strength of the wave action.
North of the tracks, or about a mile inland, the predominant damage was from flooding, which even though it persisted for about 8 hours, rendered houses unlivable. Additional damage occurred due to the wind.
